Cyprus has some of the Mediterranean's bluest and brightest waters and big crowds of European package holiday tourists. So, amidst all the beautiful beaches, you're never too far from a nightclub or restaurant serving cheap drinks and food to British and Russian tourists.
I traveled on Turkish Airlines, so I flew into Nicosia in Northern Cyprus and crossed the border south into the Republic of Cyprus with a taxi. The first destination was Paphos, which was right on the sea with a sun-soaked corniche lined with seafood restaurants. Unfortunately, as we quickly discovered, most of it was frozen salmon, king crab legs, and lobster tails. There was, however, abundant fresh octopus and calamari everywhere, so that quickly became our default meal in Cyprus: grilled, fried, salads, and more!
Other highlights from Cyprus included a day trip to Blue Bay (complete with a BBQ on our boat!), lounging on the beach in Peyia, and exploring Pissouri and Saint George’s Bay. Enjoy!
