#113 LITHUANIA

Our first summer living in Zagreb, we didn't have AC or even fans, so when the heatwave hit we did what any sensible person would have done -- flee north for cooler weather! And so we ended up in Lithuania for a week, where we reveled in the refreshing climate, ate abundant rustic game meats, and explored the medieval cities of Vilnius and Kaunas.

It wasn't our first trip to the Baltics, but it was our first time in Lithuania, and we immensely enjoyed it! So much so that we're already planning a return trip next summer to explore the Curonian Spit, and then continue further north to Latvia, where we've got dear friends we'd met in China decades (yes, decades!) earlier.

A chilly 17°C summer day in Kaunas!
