The UK was the first country I visited in Europe. I was visiting my friend Aubain from High School, and he took me around to see all the sights and do all the typical touristy things, kind of like when Friends goes to London for Ross's wedding, but less annoying...
Then, in 2005, I moved to London for my graduate studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and soon discovered how
not fun London can be when you're a poor student. That year I pretty much wouldn't do anything if it wasn't for free, and I took my studies way too seriously, so much so that grocery shopping for bargains at Sainsbury's or Iceland was an adventure! Thankfully, I've chilled out considerably since then, so when we revisited the UK last year after more than a decade, I was finally able to settle into a lovely plate of fish and chips with a pint of lager and enjoy what the country has to offer.
